Notable cases
Laurence Keenan Advocates & Solicitors has been involved in some of the most complex and high profile litigations of recent times. Examples include-
- We represented the joint liquidators of two Isle of Man companies that were involved in the collapse of a Mutual Fund in the Caribbean. This required urgent applications in respect of the liquidations, the pursuit of the wrongdoer through the Isle of Man Court (where a $US 33,000,000 judgment was obtained), enforcement of this in the United States of America and the co-ordination of actions in the Caribbean, the Isle of Man and the United States (including pursuing the claim in the subsequent bankruptcy proceedings). This illustrates where a network of experienced lawyers can coordinate and cooperate in multiple jurisdictions.
- We acted in a high profile case where certain principal witnesses declined to attend a Coroner of Inquest Hearing in the Isle of Man. Following an Application to the Court of Session in Scotland a Commissioner was appointed which gave rise to the Hearing taking place in Scotland
- We have acted for a foreign Government in the pursuit of two bankers who absconded with customer monies. Substantial funds were recovered and the individuals concerned were convicted and sentenced to long periods of imprisonment.
